Water Mitigation FAQ

Mold can begin growing within 24 to 48 hours of water exposure. That’s why mitigation should start immediately after a loss.

Most standard homeowner’s insurance policies cover sudden and accidental water damage (like burst pipes or appliance failures), but not floodwater or long-term issues like slow leaks. We can help guide you through the claim process.

No. In fact, delaying mitigation can void parts of your claim. You are responsible for preventing further damage. Insurance companies expect you to act fast.

Typically 3 to 5 days, but it depends on the extent of the damage, materials affected, and how quickly we started. We monitor daily and adjust as needed.

We use air movers, dehumidifiers, and sometimes air scrubbers to dry your home. The equipment is safe, but loud. We’ll advise you if any areas need to be temporarily vacated.

Some materials trap moisture and can’t be dried in place. We remove only what’s necessary to prevent mold, warping, or future issues.

We offer full-service restoration, including repairs and rebuild, if needed. We’ll walk you through that phase once mitigation is complete.

Not always — we just need access. We’ll keep you updated with photos, notes, and equipment readings daily.

If you notice lingering odors or suspect moisture, call us. We’ll come inspect and verify everything dried to standard.

We use moisture meters and thermal imaging to track progress and won’t remove equipment until your home meets IICRC drying standards.

Water mitigation involves specialized equipment, certified technicians, daily monitoring, and precise documentation for insurance. We don’t make up prices — everything is itemized, standardized, and tied to the actual labor and materials used.

If the work is covered by insurance, typically you’re only responsible for your deductible up front. We work directly with your insurance company to settle the rest. If there are uncovered portions or if the claim is denied, we’ll go over that with you before any additional work is done.

If your insurance denies the claim, you are still responsible for the work completed. We’ll work with you to find a solution — including payment plans — and can also provide documentation to support an appeal or reassessment of your claim. In many cases, denial is avoidable if mitigation starts early and is properly documented (which we handle).

Yes. You are not required to use the insurance company’s preferred contractor. Many homeowners choose us for both mitigation and repairs because we already know the property and file. But you’re welcome to use someone else for the rebuild phase if you prefer.

We’ll assess and move, protect, or remove contents as needed. In some cases, items are taken off-site for cleaning and storage. We carefully document everything, including photos and inventory lists, and will advise you if anything is non-salvageable. These items may also be covered under the personal property section of your insurance.
